Chemistry is that “thing” between two characters that is so electric, it cannot be ignored.

It’s hard to explain what happens in that moment, but it’s best described as a spark that almost makes you forget that you’re watching and rooting for a fictional couple.

We’re constantly drawn to relationships between two characters because of their undeniable chemistry.

The best type of chemistry is the one that isn’t forced — it’s natural and effortless and oftentimes, translates off-screen.

It can happen between friends that aren’t aware of their feelings for each other, a couple that’s about to embark on a romantic relationship, or lovers who, despite the obvious chemistry, can’t seem to make it work.

Here’s our list of characters with undeniable chemistry that could set off fireworks. There are so many to choose from that we couldn’t add them all. Let us know who you’d add onto the list!

1. Rio and Beth – Good Girls

Rio and Beth - Good Girls
It doesn’t matter if they’re arguing, making shady deals, or hooking up, anytime these two share a scene, it’s electric and intoxicating. I know it’s dangerous, but I can’t stop rooting for them.

2. Mic and Jared – Manifest

Mic and Jared - Manifest
They were apart for five years and in that time, Jared married Mic’s best friend, yet their spark never went out. When they’re finally reunited, it’s as if nothing has changed and even though they know it’s wrong, they can’t stay away from each other.

3. Sutton and Richard – The Bold Type

Sutton and Richard - The Bold Type
You can feel the passion between them anytime these two are in a room together. Though they tried to end things because of their age difference, they ultimately fell back into each other. You don’t travel halfway across the world to profess your love to someone unless you know for certain they’re ‘the one.’
Elijah and Hayley - The Originals
It’s a shame that Haley and Elijah never got a chance to pursue a romantic relationship because there was so much unspoken love between them until the very end.

5. Elizabeth and Henry McCord – Madam Secretary

Elizabeth and Henry McCord - Madam Secretary
When it comes to hottest married couples on television these two top the list. They have some serious chemistry both on and off the screen!

6. Wyatt and Lucy – Timeless

Wyatt and Lucy - Timeless
Wyatt and Lucy were the last to realize they had feelings for each other, but all the signs were there in every time period they traveled to.
