Grey’s Anatomy (10×1) Seal Your Fate/I Want You With Me

 “Why is everything so horrible?!”

Greys-Anatomy-24-550x366

GREY’S IS BACK, I REPEAT GREY’S IS BACK. With a 2 hour premiere, nothing was off limits on last nights episode. A baby was born, a marriage is possibly over, a relationship is blossoming, a proposal was made, and someone lost a life. Just an average day at the Grey Sloan Memorial.

MCBABY: A baby is born! Mer & Der had their baby in the season finale back in May, but we finally get to see little Bailey! He is probably the cutest baby in the world, I mean come on look at his parents. It’s so weird to think that Mer & Der have a baby. They’ve come a long way since season 1. The episode starts off with everyone fawning over baby Bailey, when Derrick asks about Webber, who we all saw last laying on the floor electrocuted.

CALIZONA:  Is it really over for our favorite married couple? It’s not secret that Callie knows Arizona cheated on her. She is devastated. And she lets everyone know that Arizona is a S-L-U-T (her words not mine). It’s hard not to feel bad for Callie. Everyone she loves hurts her, and we all thought they were going to last. It’s not like they can avoid each other, there are casualties all over the hospital due to a mudslide, and the only thing on Arizona’s mind is forgiveness. The only thing on Callie’s mind is how she wants nothing to do with Arizona. In my opinion, Arizona needs to give Callie space. She just found out her wife cheated on her, don’t ask for forgiveness.

WEBBER: Last time we saw Dr.Webber, he was laying on the floor fighting for his life. The only person who is concerned about his whereabouts, is Dr.Bailey. We all know she feels guilty about the way she talked to him last, but she has a point, it’s not like Webber to be missing when there are traumas in the ER. She sends Shane to look for him, but he passes the message on to Heather. Next thing you know, Heather finds Webber, but is electrocuted once stepping into the room. And just like that, another intern is gone. I can’t take anymore people dying Shonda Rhimes! Shane ends up finding them both, and now the residents of GSM are put to the test.

BAILEY & CHRISTINA: Bailey and Cristina worked on Webber and Cristina managed to get his heartbeat steady. Way to go Yang!  Webber still needed surgery, but is really weak. Since he is childless and Adele is dead, they have to find his next-of-kin. It isn’t a surprise when we find out that it’s Meredith. Those two have the best father-daughter relationship. When Meredith finds out the news, she is faced with deciding life or death for Webber. She decides to go with the surgery, to her it is the only right thing to do.

INTERNS: Meanwhile in an other OR, Derrick is operating on Heather. It doesn’t look good, but he doesn’t want to loose her. Shane feels extremely guilty and blames himself for her condition. In the end, Heather doesn’t make it. This leaves all the interns stunned. The spend the rest of the evening trying to remember Heather, and wait to console her mother. I never really liked the interns before, but this episode showed them in a different light.

In the end, through all the drama, Katherine Avery’s screaming, and the two surgeries, Webber is okay, and opens his eyes to hear Meredith calling him, her family. I cried, not even going to lie! You can’t watch an episode of Grey’s without crying, its impossible.

COUPLES ALERT

OWEN&CHRISTINA: These two are SO confusing. On the season finale, they were over. Now, they continue to have sex all over the hospital to make their “last time” perfect. Clearly, it ain’t over! But Christina let’s Owen know that this isn’t easy for her, and it won’t ever be.

ALEX&JO: They are finally together, even though I secretly feel like the only girl for Alex is Izzie, but they are together. Attempting to have their first time together in the hospital, each time comes to an halt. I want to see where this relationship goes, because we all know Alex has had enough crazy in his life.

JACKSON&APRIL:  April confessed her love for Jackson in the season finale. Too bad for April but, Jackson had enough of all the back and forth and officially breaks it off. So, April accepts Matthews proposal. I feel that she is really confused, and will realize that she will always want Jackson.

Like I said everyone, GREY’S IS BACK! Get ready for a season of the unthinkable!

Grey’s Anatomy – Jump Into the Fog (15×25)

Grey's Anatomy Jump into the Fog Review

It was no plane crash, no active shooter, and no major death, but it was still a Grey’s Anatomy season finale. What a close to the end of an iconic season!

In my expert Grey’s Anatomy superfan opinion, the hour was a bit anticlimactic. Even with the supposed cliffhanger, they didn’t offer enough of a teaser as to what happened to Jackson for it to be a proper jaw-dropping ending.

In spite of a slight doozy of an episode, the rest of the storylines were more heartwarming than not. A true change of heart for the show!

Welcome, Allison! Teddy and Owen had their baby and wow, did they find a baby that actually resembles Kevin McKidd. Owen made his final love declaration, which was basically a proposal. I’m sure we’ll get to their wedding sometime within the next season.

Poor Koracick, this is a moment in time when I hate the third person. His love for Teddy is so pure and it’s the first time he has truly felt alive and loved after his son’s death. And here he gets screwed over by Teddy and Owen’s love for each other.

It’s not their fault they love each other, but I wish Teddy had been more honest with herself about her feelings so we could’ve avoided this.

Was anyone else unphased by the firing of Alex, Meredith, and Richard? We all know somehow they’re going to miraculously get their jobs back.

Watching Bailey exercise her power was good to see, and it showed that nepotism can die. It was a typical Grey’s Anatomy family ban of loyalty.

The legalities of what will happen with the insurance fraud and DeLuca in jail are story arcs that I am not necessarily interested in. I prefer the gory and emotional messes. But I guess a mix of both is satisfying for a larger coverage of the audience base.

All successful patient recoveries and miracles happened and what a joyous occasion. Gus received his life-changing blood transfusion and Kari moved a few extremities. It was a good day for the road to recoveries.

Jo was changed by Frances’ moving monologue about doing the things that scare you. She too is on the road to recovery. The emotional exchange between her and Alex almost got the waterworks flowing. Seeing her being taken into the psychiatric ward was a strong scene and one that was a bit too prolonged.

Amelia should win some sort of award! She has matured the most this season and I’m proud of her. Watching herself admit that she needs to find herself beyond Owen, but also declare her feelings for Link was a momentous event for this Shepherd.

Link deserves nothing but a happy and loving ending, so they also better start planning a double wedding of sorts between Teddy and Owen, Link and Amelia. A double whammy wedding? I’m all for it. Although, it might be an awkward occurrence for all parties.

What do you think happened to Jackson? What are you most looking forward to this fall? Do you think Meredith will go to jail? Are our questions ever fully answered?

Additional Sidenotes:

  • I’ve never commented on the soundtrack before, but the intro song was a perfect and eerie match. Although perhaps, a bit more foreshadowing than what actually followed.
  • “You need to develop some instincts for self-preservation.” Can we please make this a meme or some sort of iconic line? Meredith’s a strong and independent woman who needs no man!
  • Teddy’s puns pregnancy puns were prime. Also, there’s something endearing about Owen’s nickname “Sergent” for Teddy.
  • Amelia’s desperation speech to the police was adorable. Also, did anyone else relate to her confession of finding everyone attractive and falling in love easily? Or does that also signify I might be suffering from a possible brain tumor?
  • Another Bailey scolding of her “children”. Iconic, that’s all I can say.
  • Thank you, Nico, for finally coming to the realization that Schmitt deserved so much. Also, that Schmitt telling him that he deserves so much more was a huge step for him as well. Their relationship can only go up from here.
  • Maggie and Jackson are on the rocks, but I’m sure the whole reality of losing someone is going to save their relationship.

Grey’s Anatomy – Drawn to the Blood (15×24)

Shonda is really setting up her pawns in this preseason finale. Up until the last five to ten minutes of the episode, it’s pretty slow and slightly dry.

It’s a good tactic though, you have to build up to the season finale because if both were exciting and adrenaline producing, the finale wouldn’t seem as shocking.

Meredith is sent to get Jo out of her funk. With her track record, we all had high hopes. I mean, the twisted sisters had a lot of mishaps and still ended up on top.

Jo eventually opens up and admits to Mer that she feels her misery and all the bad events that have happened to her were a birthright her father passed down to her.

Immediately Mer swoops in to remind her she’s also had her fair share of shitty events. I mean, that’s a given at Grey’s Sloan Memorial. She gives her one of her famous pep talks and makes us all re-evaluate our own lives.

Jo sets foot back in the hospital and is ready to fight again.

Meanwhile, Bailey and Catherine are in a serious predicament with the hospital’s insurance company. They found out about Mer’s insurance fraud and are looking into it.

DeLuca is called in to answer questions in order to incriminate Mer, but he doesn’t give in, and instead takes the entire fall for her. He’s most likely going to jail.

I don’t know whether I find it truly romantic or entirely stupid. He’s right about her needing to be there for her children and can’t afford jail time, so I do believe his intentions.

They found a blood donor for Gus, but she comes with a caveat. She’s agoraphobic and her therapist is taken by the border control, so she retreats back into the plane and refuses to move.

Eventually, Owen comes and gets her to compromise and throw a towel over her head so he can carry her to the car. On their way to the hospital, the fog has descended upon the city.

The fog becomes so intense it causes a massive pileup on the freeway and Owen, Frances, Schmitt are all isolated on the freeway.

Teddy finally verbalizes her love for Owen. Predictable. We all knew it. Who’s been saying it in every previous review?

Also, she’s finally in labor! We’re so close to meeting the new addition to the family. Is anyone else super curious what her name is going to be?

I’m ready, not ready for the final episode of the season! So many questions left to answer, and so many questions that will probably be left unanswered until Season 16!

How exactly will Teddy and Owen get together and what will happen to Koracick? Poor guy.

Will Mer truly let DeLuca take the fall for her? I’m ready for the chaos to ensue once everyone’s freed from their imaginary shackles.

Additional Sidenote:

  • Link is too pure for this world. If everyone had his outlook the world would be a much better place.
  • “I guess God’s water just broke too.” Yes, Jackson!
  • Maggie and Jackson are both moods. I relate to Maggie. Who do you side with?
  • Gaby and DeLuca’s interactions are so adorable. He’s wonderful with kids and secretly Shonda’s trying to show that side of him so that we are more sold on the MerLuca relationship.
  • I’m really enjoying the unlikely “friendship” between Amelia and Koracick. Sharing their unsolicited love advice with each other is so typically Grey’s.
  • Nico’s cockiness at the beginning of the episode worried me. Had he not changed? But I’m glad Weber taught him that sometimes you need to laugh at the slightly funny cases to stay sane during the entirety of them all.
  • We all need a friend like Mer who will tell us when we smell and remind us they’re not going to start lying to you now.
  • Meredith and Derek are the great love of the century.  Why was that so long ago? Whenever she alludes to him, I feel my heart jump.

Grey’s Anatomy – What I Did For Love (15×23)

Published

on

Sometimes the things you do for love aren’t always huge romantic gestures, but huge and hard decisions.

The crossover of the season between Shondaland’s Station 19 and Grey’s is one that I’m sure many fans have been anticipating. Although, if you’re not a watcher of Station 19, the crossover meant very little.

Schmitt was transported in the ambulance of a supposed John Doe only to learn that the life he saved was the fire station chief. Turns out, he was, in fact, a hero. Nico’s sudden shift in the treatment of Schmitt has me seething a bit.

Link explained to Schmitt that Nico’s loss of the previous patient will Haunt Nico for the rest of his career, but I still don’t think it acts as an excuse for his horrible treatment of Schmitt.

I hope they mend their relationship soon, but right now things don’t look too great.

Meredith is faced with a tough decision to commit insurance fraud, although not her first rodeo. She’s determined to get the little girl the surgical procedure she needs.

Her father has done everything right, as Meredith states, but it goes to show how corrupt the system is. Meredith struggles with the idea that DeLuca disapproves but fearlessly goes through with it, even at the expense of her medical license and career.

By the end, DeLuca is standing in front of Meredith confessing his love for her! Only to have her respond with a slightly uncomfortable smile and an “ok.” Not necessarily what anyone wants as a response to their entire love display.

I wonder where that leaves them.

Following the trend in the Ellis Grey biology, Maggie seems to be having commitment issues to moving in with Jackson. She continues excusing her long-awaited answer on Meredith’s reservations for her moving out.

After speaking with the firehouse chief, she realizes

Now, getting to the entire Jo focus of the episode. Jo was brought onto Gus’ case to help ease her distractedness, and it seems to work at first. She begins feeling like she’s back in the game and we even see a moment of smiles shared between the Karevs.

Although, this easily shifts when she finds out that she misunderstood and messed up. Ben and Teddy notice something wrong with Jo and report her to Bailey.

After she breaks down to the patient’s mother she’s taken away by Alex. I’m honestly at a loss for what’s going to happen to Jo. Bailey could go either way. Understanding and request Jo see someone about her depression, or she could show her some typical Bailey tough love and suspend her. What are your thoughts?

Owen has finally noticed Link and Amelia’s budding relationship and he’s not too happy about it. With both the women in his life moving on and leaving him alone with Leo, he begins feeling lost.

During his visit to his therapist, he reveals that he has decided to admit his feelings for someone. I’m putting my money on Teddy! I hope we find out next week, because this whole Teddy, Owen, and Amelia drama has been dragged on for far too long, and I just want to know who is paired with whom.

I don’t think Shonda would allow Owen to end up alone. So I’m still regretfully placing my money on Teddy and Owen’s inevitable big ending.

Despite the sadness each season finale brings, I am looking forward to what Shonda has up her sleeves this year. There hasn’t been much set up for any major shockers, but that has never stopped her before.

Additional Sidenotes:

  • Jo finally broke down. The most important step for her to finally recover. Hopefully, this will lead her to open up completely to Alex. I’m glad we had a slight glimpse of the normal Alex and Jo relationship
  • My love for Koracick and Teddy is growing, HELP! I’m supposed to be a Teddy and Owen shipper until the end! But the way Teddy looks at Koracick shows complete happiness and love. He’s perfect for her.
  • It’s been so long since Jackson has truly had any screentime. I almost forgot he was on the show!
