As if 2020 couldn’t get any worse, Hilary Duff shattered all of our dreams when she announced that the Disney+ reboot of Lizzie McGuire has been scrapped.
I’ve been so honored to have the character of Lizzie in my life. She has made such a lasting impact on many, including myself. To see the fans’ loyalty and love for her, to this day, means so much to me. I know the efforts and conversations have been everywhere trying to make a reboot work but, sadly and despite everyone’s best efforts, it isn’t going to happen,” the actress wrote.
She added: “I want any reboot of Lizzie to be honest and authentic to who Lizzie would be today. It’s what the character deserves. We can all take a moment to more in the amazing woman she would’ve been in the adventures we would have taken with her.”
She concluded by blaming 2020 (which she should).
“I’m very sad, but I promise everyone tried their best and the stars just didn’t align. Hey now, this is what 2020s made of,” she wrote.
The revival was picked up by the streamer in August of 2019, but it hit a snag early on when the original series creator Terri Minsky exited the series.
She said the show was heading in a “different creative direction.”
“However, I feel a huge responsibility to honor the fans’ relationship with LIZZIE who, like me, grew up seeing themselves in her,” she wrote.
The issues seemed to be stemming from Disney’s “PG” outlook and the reboot’s intentions to give Lizzie an authentic 30-year-old experience.
“I’d be doing a disservice to everyone by limiting the realities of a 30-year-old’s journey to live under the ceiling of a PG rating. It’s important to me that just as her experiences as a preteen/teenager navigating life were authentic, her next chapters are equally as real and relatable.”
Minsky asked if Disney would allow the show to be moved to a more mature streamer like Hulu, but it seems that those pleas were rejected.
Fans were excited to see Hilary back in action as their favorite childhood character along with original stars Hallie Todd, Robert Carradine, Jake Thomas, Adam Lamberg, and Lalaine, who were set to reprise their roles of Jo, Sam Matthew, Gordo and Miranda, respectively.
When Does ‘Firefly Lane’ Season 2 Come Out?
The wait is almost over!
Netflix is allowing fans to reunite with the Firefly Lane girls on December 2, 2022!
FireFly Lane Season 2 Part 1 will debut on Friday at 12 a.m. PT (3 a.m ET and 2 a.m. CT) on the streaming service, and while that may be very late in the night, the good thing is you’ll have all weekend to catch up with Tully (Katherine Heigl) and Kate (Sarah Chalke).
Why Is Kate Mad at Tully at the End of Firefly Lane Season 1?
The biggest question on everyone’s mind is why is Kate so mad at Tully. At the end of the first season, it’s revealed that Kate’s father, Bud, died, but when her best friend Tully arrives at the church, Kate tells her that she has “some nerve showing up here.” Season 2 Part 1 will hopefully answer what led to the rift between Kate and Tully in 2004/2005.
How Many Episodes in Firefly Lane Season 2 Part 1?
The season will have a total of nine episodes.
Part 2 of the season is set to arrive sometime in 2023 with episodes 10 through 16.
Who Died on Firefly Lane Season 1?
Bud, Kate’s father, passed away in the first season. Kate and Tully are at his funeral when it’s revealed that they are not on speaking terms anymore despite a decades-long friendship.

Firefly Lane Season 2 Synopsis
What could possibly have ended the tight-knit thirty year friendship of Tully and Kate, our “Firefly Lane Girls Forever?” We’ll learn the answer this season — but first — Kate grapples with the painful aftermath of Johnny’s ill-fated trip to Iraq, while Tully faces a lawsuit after walking away from her talk show, and must start her career over from the bottom. This leads her to search for answers about who she is and where she comes from — including a quest to find the father she never met, against the wishes of her secretive hippie mother, Cloud. In the ’80s, we see Kate and Johnny first fall in love, creating more than a little drama in the newsroom where they work, as Tully’s career rises and she spars (and flirts!) with cocky sportscaster Danny Diaz. She just might have met her match — that is, if they can stop arguing for five minutes. While in the ’70s, teenage Kate and Tully struggle to keep their friendship together as Cloud goes to jail for dealing drugs and Tully goes to live with her grandmother, far away from Firefly Lane. As the girls face the tumult of high school apart, they know the one thing they really need is each other.
Firefly Lane Season 2 Trailer
‘Emily in Paris’ Season 3—Premiere Date and Trailer
Netflix is giving Emily in Paris fans the best holiday gift of all—a brand new season.
The third season of the Paris-set dramedy is set to premiere on Wednesday, December 21.
Fans can also unwrap an early gift as the streamer just dropped the trailer for the new season, which reveals Emily Cooper (Lily Collins) is pulling double-duty in both her professional and personal life.
Her indecision has left her in a bit of a mess, as she’s now juggling two jobs—her old gig with Madeline (Kate Walsh) and a gig at Sylvie’s new agency (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu). On top of it, her heart is also being pulled in two different directions as she’s torn between chef Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) and businessman Brit Alfie (Lucien Laviscount).
And based on the 2-minute trailer, her decisions will have plenty of consequences.
But don’t think that Emily isn’t carving out time for prioritizing life, as Parisians do, as she informs her gal pal Mindy (Ashley Park) that she’s all about “life” right now.
The work-life balance includes stunning vacations (and a balloon ride), incredible outfits, plenty of champagne, and much more.
As the trailer suggests, choose Paris… on December 21!
