It’s that time of year for scary classics to bring some fright, and Hulu’s got you covered with its annual Huluween event. Here’s what you can stream for the month of October.

Beginning today, October 1, Hulu will feature 18 brand new Halloween shorts, some scary and some ridiculous. You can expect to see familiar faces including Troian Bellisario (Pretty Little Liars), Eric Robers, and Yalitza Aparicio (Roma). And the shorts will provide a platform for up-and-coming filmmakers.

Aside from the new, you will be able to stream spooktacular classics, including Rocky Horror Picture Show, alongside some premieres for movies like Censor (premiering 10/14), The Evil Next Door (premiering 10/21), and Gaia (premiering 10/22).

Additionally, Hulu’s curated a library of handpicked TV episodes and movies like “Humorous Horror,” “Frights for the Whole Family,” “Terrifying TV,” “Foreign Frights,” and many more.

From Hulu’s Initiative 29, Black filmmaker Philip Youman’s short film Voodoo will be released on October 29.

And if you’re located in the Los Angeles area, you’ll be able to reserve a spot on Tuesday, October 5 for an exclusive Drive-in late-night screening on Saturday, October 9.

Happy October and happy streaming!

11 Best Spooky Halloween TV Shows to watch 2021

With Halloween stretching the month of October, you might find yourself looking for a spooky show to add to your rotation.

We’ve compiled a list of shows that will send a shiver down your spine on a breezy fall night.

Just be sure to leave the night light on… you know, to scare away any bad spirits or witches.

Nancy Drew – (The CW)

When it comes to TV mysteries, no one does it better than Nancy Drew. The writers deliver compelling mysteries with unexpected twists while maintaining the integrity of the plot and developing well-rounded, relatable, and likable characters in the process. And the cheap thrills aren’t so bad either.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina – 4 Seasons (Netflix)

Her name is Sabrina Spellman, and she is a half-witch, half-mortal trying to retain her human side while also learning all there is to know about her coven and the Dark Lord. This isn’t the teenage witch you remember, but it’s the one you’ll want to befriend.

Fear Street – a Film Trilogy Event (Netflix)

The three-parter, based on the writings of R.L. Stine, is set in three centuries: 1666, 1978, and 1994 and finds friends taking on evil forces after a series of slayings.

Scream – 3 Seasons (MTV and VHI)

Based on the 1996 slasher film of the same name, the anthology series revives a dangerous killer by the name of Ghostface.

YOU – (Netflix)

An obsessive stalker named Joe Goldberg sets his sights on his next muse (and victim)… you. The series explores how far he’s willing to go for love.

Big Sky – (ABC)

Private detectives Cassie Dewell and Jenny Hoyt investigate crimes and murders in Helena, Montana.

Dr. Death – (Peacock)

Based on the hit podcast and inspired by the chilling true story of Dr. Christopher Duntsch, a charismatic doctor who opens up a neurosurgery practice in Texas. But things take a grisly turn when patients going in for routine spinal surgeries leave permanently disabled or dead.

Nine Perfect Strangers – (Hulu)

Nicole Kidman stars in the series based on The New York Times best-selling book by Liane Moriarty (also the author of Big Little Lies!). Kidman stars as a retreat director who hopes to better nine strangers and transform their lives. It’s trippy, chaotic, and a little unnerving.

Only Murders in the Building – (Hulu)

Martin Short, Steve Martin, and Selena Gomez star as three true crime-obsessed strangers who find themselves piecing together the event of a murder mystery that occurs at their Upper West Side apartment building. What more could you want?

I Know What You Did Last Summer – (Amazon Prime)

In this remake of the classic 1997 teen slasher, a group of teenagers is stalked by a mysterious killer a year after they are involved in a fatal accident on the night of their graduation that they swear to keep a secret.

Ghosts -(CBS)

Halloween doesn’t always have to be scary. The single-camera sitcom, adapted from the British one of the same name, finds Sam and Jay moving into a mansion left to her by her great-aunt. After a brush with death, she begins to see dead people aka the spirits trapped inside the home, and must find a way to live in unison with them.

11 New Movies & TV Shows to Watch Right in Time for Halloween

Published

This is Halloween… so be ready for a fright.

The best way to celebrate spooky season (aside from with a pumpkin spice latte in hand) is with bone-chilling movies and TV shows. Thankfully, there are plenty coming at you this year ahead of Halloween.

From family-friendly choices to new installments of beloved classics, here’s a list of all the Halloween movies and TV shows of 2022:

Halloween Ends – Theaters/ Paramount+

Laurie Strode and Michael Myers face off one last time in the final installment of the Halloween franchise. See how it all goes down when the film hits theaters on October 14. It will also be available for streaming on Peacock.

Chucky (Season 2) – Syfy

Fans were absolutely taken with the first season of Chucky on Syfy, making a second season a guarantee. And after that jaw-dropping cliffhanger, you’re going to want to see what happens next when the murderous doll returns for more mayhem on October 5.

Wednesday – Netflix

Fans of the Addams family can enjoy a reimagining that focuses on Wednesday Addams played by Jenna Ortega, who truly embodies the Burton-esque essence of the character. The Netflix series also stars Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán as Morticia and Gomez Addams. No premiere date has been announced just yet, but expect it to arrive sometime in the fall.

Hocus Pocus 2 – Disney Plus

Sisstaaaaas! It’ll be a glorious morning when the Sanderson sisters (Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy) rise again to reign terror on a new lot of children that light the Black Flame candle in Salem. The sequel to the beloved 1993 original has been a long time coming, which makes it that much more exciting.

Cabinet of Curiosities – Netflix

Step aside, American Horror Story. The new horror anthology comes from the mind of Guillermo del Toro and features a star-studded cast including Andrew Lincoln, Sebastian Roché, Rupert Grint and more. It’s based on a short story of the same name and features eight unique live-action stories meant to challenge our traditional notions of horror. Start streaming on October 25.

The Midnight Club – Netflix

The horror mystery-thriller hails from the minds of Mike Flanagan and Trevor Macy, the duo that gave you The Haunting of Hill House and The Haunting of Bly Manor, so you know it’s legit. It follows a group of eight terminally ill teens living in hospice that entertain each other with life-like horror stories and make a pact that the first person to die will come back and haunt them. It arrives on October 7.

Ghosts (Season 2) – CBS

There’s nothing creepy about Ghosts, the 20-minute sitcom comedy about a young couple who inherits a mansion and realizes it houses the ghosts of all those who have died on the property. However, it’s a fun concept that definitely taps into the “after-life.” Come season 2, we’ll see all the antics that come with Sam and Jay officially opening the B&B. The new season returns on September 29.

Jeepers Creepers: Reborn – Theaters

The film will serve as a reboot of the 2021 cult classic, though, it’s not connected to the original in any way. Sydney Craven’s Laine premonitions and visions of the Creeper are timed perfectly to when the town begins to prepare for its first horror fest. The film will have a limited theatrical run from September 19 through September 25.

Interview with a Vampire – AMC

The upcoming American gothic horror drama is a small-screen adaptation of Anne Rice’s 1976 novel of the same name. It will sink its fangs into Louis de Pointe’s (Jacob Anderson) epic story of “love, blood, and the perils of immortality” with Vampire Lestat (Sam Reid). It premieres on October 2.

The Curse of Bridge Hollow – Netflix

The Halloween comedy teams Marlon Wayans with Stranger Things star Priah Ferguson as a father-daughter unit forced to save their town after an ancient and mischievous spirit causes the decorations to come to life. Also starring Kelly Rowland, it hits the streamer on October 14.

Spirit Halloween: The Movie

We’ve all shopped at a Spirit Halloween store, but what if we got trapped in one overnight? That’s what the new film explores, but unfortunately for the kids hoping to enjoy a night of mischief and adventure, they end up haunted by an “angry evil spirit” (Back to the Future’s Christopher Lloyd) who is possessing all the toys inside the store. You can start streaming on your favorite VOD platform on October 11.

Bonus:

The Imperfects – Netflix

Since the series premieres on September 8, we’re adding it as a bonus. The fantasy horror finds a group of teens hunting down a scientist, whose experiments gave them monstrous side effects.
