Lucy Hale Opens Up About Her Audition For 50 Shades of Grey

Published

on

Let’s be honest. We’re all desperately waiting for Fifty Shades of Grey, starring Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele and Jamie Dornan as the rich, S&M obsessed Christian Grey.

But let’s imagine for a moment that Dakota wasn’t playing Ana. There was a time when the role was open and many young Hollywood actresses were fighting for a chance at the controversial role. Pretty Little Liars Lucy Hale was one of them.

If you ever wondered what it was like to audition for a movie like 50 shades, you’re in lucky. While Hale didn’t make the cute (and I’m kind of glad she didn’t), she did share details of her awkward audition process with MTV.

She admitted that reading for the role of Steele was “unlike any audition i’d ever done before in my life.”

“Let’s just say I don’t want my grandmother watching that audition tape,” she continued. “[It was] awkward.”

“It was just me. It was a two-page monologue of … exactly what you think it would be,” she said. “Very uncomfortable.” We’re assuming she’s referring to one of the many sex scenes in the book. Doing a monologue to any of one those scenes had to be super weird.

“It was sort of one of those things where you just had to go with it or you’re gonna look lame,” she added. “Hopefully, I didn’t look lame!”

Despite being so risque, it was a much sought after role and Hale was set on doing her best, giving it her all and hoping to score. (No pun intended.)

“I think any girl in my demographic would have loved to be a part of it,” she admitted. “Mainly, I was just interested in doing something risky and doing something a little different than my character on ‘PLL’ so it took me out of my comfort zone.”

What are your thoughts? Would you rather have seen Lucy in the role of Ana instead of Dakota Johnson?

Dancing with the Stars Season 29 premiere best tweets

Dancing with the Stars (DWTS) season 29 premiered tonight (September 14) with a pretty impressive lineup.

AJ McLean from Backstreet Boys, actress and real estate agent Chrishell Stause, and rapper Nelly all took the stage to show off their moves.

But all eyes were on Tiger King’s Carole Baskin! There’s no denying everyone was watching to see her debut!

I’d like to say that’s the craziest thing to happen in 2020, but unfortunately, the show is airing without an audience and with plenty of safety precautions including the judges sitting six-feet apart.

Oh, and Tyra Banks replaced Tom Bergeron, which didn’t sit well with many on Twitter.

Here are the best tweets from the premiere:

Dolls, it’s time to say goodbye to TV’s most popular family.

The Kardashian’s are putting an end to their long-running reality series that shot them to stardom.

Kim Kardashian made the announcement on social media by posting an old poster for the series. The rest of the family including Kris Jenner followed suit.

“To our amazing fans – It is with heavy hearts that we’ve made the difficult decision as a family to say goodbye to Keeping Up With the Kardashians. After what will be 14 years, 20 seasons, hundreds of episodes and numerous spin-off shows, we are beyond grateful to all of you who’ve watched us for all of these years – through the good times, the bad times, the happiness, the tears, and the many relationships and children. We’ll forever cherish the wonderful memories and countless people we’ve met along the way.”

“Thank you to the thousands of individuals and businesses that have been a part of this experience and, most importantly, a very special thank you to Ryan Seacrest for believing in us, E! for being our partner, and our production team at Bunim/Murray, who’ve spent countless hours documenting our lives.”

“Our last season will air early next year in 2021,” she continued. “Without Keeping Up With the Kardashians, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I am so incredibly grateful to everyone who has watched and supported me and my family these past 14 incredible years. This show made us who we are and I will be forever in debt to everyone who played a role in shaping our careers and changing our lives forever.”
