Margo’s Got Money Troubles Recap Season 1 Finale — Who Gets Custody of Bodhi?

Season 1 of Apple TV’s new comedy drama, Margo’s Got Money Troubles, just concluded with episode 8, “Lock and Load,” and finally revealed the outcome of the heated custody battle between Margo (Elle Fanning) and Mark (Michael Angarano).

Season 1 episode 7 had concluded in a very dark place for Margo. Mark, the father of her son Bodhi, had brought a lawsuit against her, suing her for full custody due to claims that she was an unfit mother. In part, Mark was making those allegations because Margo’s previously anonymous Only Fans account had been traced back to her; he claimed that this line of work meant Bodhi consistently being put in unsafe, inappropriate situations.

Making matters worse was the fact that Margo’s father, Jinx (Nick Offerman), had intentionally crushed Mark’s hand when meeting him because he was furious that he’d gotten Margo pregnant—at the time, Mark had been her teacher—and then abandoned her and the baby. With that incident, Mark was able to double down on the claims that Margo’s home was unsafe.

Unfortunately, Margo’s situation went from bad to worse, as Jinx relapsed in episode 7 and nearly died of a heroin overdose, and her mother, Shyanne (Michelle Pfeiffer), had punched Mark’s mother, Elizabeth (Marcia Gay Harden) in the face. Although they’re actually a charming family most of the time, they legitimately could not keep their hands to themselves this season.

Episode 7 then ended with CPS arriving at Margo’s house to inspect the home and observe her with Bodhi, which also meant a drug screening for all adults in the home, including, unfortunately, Jinx.

Episode 8 Jumps Right Into the Action

Thankfully, episode 8 wasted no time revealing what had transpired as a result of the CPS investigation. Jinx, as was expected, had tested positive for drug usage, which was a factor in the case, but it was not immediately cause for Margo to lose Bodhi. In fact, during a meeting with Mark, Margo and their respective lawyers, Margo learned that she had been found entirely fit to maintain physical custody.

While Mark was then offered the opportunity to rescind his claims and his case, he refused, which meant the two of them going to full-fledged court rather than mediation (but not before Margo lunged across the table at him—seriously, this family cannot stop attacking people). Worse still, the judge assigned to Margo’s case allegedly had a chip on his shoulder when it came to custody cases, as he just went through his own custody battle and lost.

The odds therefore seemed very much stacked against Margo and her family, which understandably had Margo in shambles going into her court appearance.

The Outcome of the Custody Battle Is Revealed

The court sequence of episode 8 is unexpected and intense. Rather than calling people to the stand, as is typically seen in court cases, the judge goes to each member of the family, beginning with Mark and then moving onto Margo, her parents and several others in the room, and asks a series of rapid-fire, often accusatory questions connected to their relationships with Bodhi and fitness to be in his life.

When he begins with Mark, the judge all but charges at him, yelling, “You, sir, on your feet,” which certainly set the tone for the series of questions he was about to ask. He began by acknowledging that Mark had impregnated a student and then asked who was at fault for all that had transpired. After telling Mark the case had a “stink” that started with him, the judge turned to Margo.

The judge asks Margo if she is proud of herself and then asks whether she thinks Mark is unfit or dangerous, to which Margo responds, “I deem him to be a stranger.” Margo’s family members respond in kind, with Jinx taking accountability for his substance use as well as his attack on Mark and Shyanne likewise acknowledging her attack on Elizabeth.

After this grilling, the judge has Bodhi brought in, and he asks that the baby be passed around to Margo, Jinx, Shyanne and then Mark. Bodhi is perfectly happy to be held by the first three (including Shyanne, who he didn’t have a very strong relationship with before), but as soon as Margo hands Bodhi over to Mark, the baby begins to cry.

Mark then makes a comment about seeing Margo holding Bodhi and realizing that his “poor judgment has bestowed an incredible windfall” on them all—a weirdly wordy way to take credit for Bodhi—and Margo responds with a tearful and impassioned declaration that she is Bodhi’s mother.

Then, just as swiftly as he entered, the judge says, “This child should know his father. Primary custody goes to the mother; he gets the child two weekends a month,” and leaves.

Although that’s not the full custody that Margo had prior to the lawsuit, it is a definitive win, which is precisely what her lawyer, Lace (Nicole Kidman), tells her. Mark and Margo even share a nice moment after this ruling has been given, in which Mark tells Margo that he’s “actually a really good father,” and Margo says, “That’s good, because I really do want you to get to know him.”

Season 1 Ends With a Shocking (And Infuriating) Plot Twist

Margo’s court case goes just about as well as it could have gone, especially considering Lace told Margo early on that California is not a state that tends to give one parent sole physical custody. However, the show does take one rather dark turn before the episode’s conclusion. Everyone had long suspected that it had been Mark who called CPS on Margo to get a leg up in the custody case.

Shockingly, Shyanne’s new husband, Kenny (Greg Kinnear), reveals that it had actually been him who called. This was, of course, a complete betrayal, but it unfortunately isn’t a very difficult one to imagine. While Kenny had expressed his support over the last few episodes, he had also made a range of odd, at times outright offensive comments. Calling CPS on Margo “just as a precaution” is therefore, frustratingly, not actually out of character.

He also goes on to explain that it really had very little to do with Margo and more to do with Jinx, whom he says Shyanne loves, which makes things so much worse. Now, it remains to be seen what will be done about that betrayal, as Shyanne is absolutely furious—as she should be.

What’s Next for Margo?

Season 2 of Margo’s Got Money Troubles is already confirmed to be in the works, and although story details remain under wraps for now, the season 1 finale left plenty to be explored. Most obviously, this issue with Kenny calling CPS will certainly have to be dealt with, and while Shyanne has made some questionable decisions throughout the show, it seems like there is no possible outcome other than a divorce. That may take more time than viewers are hoping for, though.

In addition to that, audiences will no doubt get to see how well (or poorly) Mark and Margo manage to coparent with one another. Of course, with such a complex ensemble cast, there are also a host of other stories to be explored, from Jinx’s recovery to the future of Margo’s career and so much more.

Will ‘Widow’s Bay’ Return for Season 2? Ending Explained

Published

on

Widow's Bay Season 1

Widow’s Bay is getting even more attention as of late, ever since the first season of the Apple TV comedy-horror swept the Emmys!

The 10-episode first season aired from the end of April to mid-June this year, leaving fans on a bit of a cliffhanger as they anticipated whether or not a second season was in the works.

Here’s everything we know about whether Widow’s Bay will return for a second season—and what the season 1 ending means for season 2.

Will Widow’s Bay Return for Season 2?

Yes, there will be a second season of Widow’s Bay.

Apple TV officially renewed the hit comedy-horror series on June 11, 2026, just before the twisty and jaw-dropping season 1 finale.

And even if the series didn’t anticipate doing a second season, the fact that it set a record at the Emmys, winning across several categories for a total of 14 wins, marking the most of any single season of a TV comedy series in history, means you have to give the people what they want.

Of course, there’s always the risk that a second season might be too much, ruining the excellence that was season 1, but hopefully, it delivers on all the elements that made the first season such a hit. They set a high bar for themselves!

And there’s plenty of story left to tell, along with questions that remain unanswered.

“From the moment audiences arrived in Widow’s Bay, they’ve been hooked on every eerie mystery, unexpected laughs, and cursed secret that Katie, Hiro, Matthew, and the entire team have created,” said Matt Cherniss, head of programming, Apple TV, on June 11. “It’s become one of those shows everyone’s talking about, and we’re thrilled to see audiences continue to embrace it. We can’t wait to return for another season.”

When Does Production on Widow’s Bay Season 2 Start?

Matthew Rhys, who plays Mayor Tom Loftis, revealed that season 2 filming will begin in spring 2027, telling Al Roker during a Sept. 18 appearance on Today, “We start, I believe, April of next year, I think.”

Of course, that means we’re likely going to see a nearly two-year gap between seasons.

Deadline reported that a writers’ room was assembled in August 2026, which is good news!

Creator Katie Dippold told the outlet, “Week 3, feeling great. “I think it’s fun. With the groundwork laid in Season 1, they have a lot more room to grow in Season 2. I feel like I always look at Season 1 — what was really hard with that is having to lay all the groundwork. ‘Haunted Island’ sounds silly and terrible, honestly. I’m still happy they all signed up. It’s a tough pitch. I feel like a lot of groundwork was laid in Season 1 so you can buy it. So, it’s making Season 2 much more fun.”

For now, there is no official premiere date for Season 2.

Widow’s Bay Cast—Including a New Series Regular for Season 2

  • Matthew Rhys as Tom Loftis (mayor)
  • Kate O’Flynn as Patricia
  • Kevin Carroll as Bechir
  • Dale Dickey as Rosemary
  • Kylie McNeill as Kelly
  • Beck Nolan as PJ
  • Charles Van Flaherty as Gil
  • Christian Clemenson as Dr. Morgan
  • Kalala Kiwanuka-Woernle as Hannah
  • Hamish Linklater as Richard Warren
  • Olli Haaskivi as Ray

Deadline reported that Jeff Hiller, who plays Dale, an employee at the mayor’s office, will be upped to a series regular for the second season. And it only makes sense, as he’s one of the only people who has seen the archival footage of the terrifying sacrifices on the cursed island in the season 1 finale, which prompted him to tell everyone that “this place is a death trap, run,” while they were taking shelter in the storm bunker.

Hiller’s quirky and oddball nature meant that he’d often provide comedic energy as a scene-stealer, so keeping him around makes sense, especially as the town’s curse becomes common knowledge and plays a larger role. Unfortunately for Dale, it means that he wasn’t able to get off the island.

And all of this brings us to…

Widow’s Bay Season 1 Ending Explained—And What It Means for Season 2

The first season of Widow’s Bay built towards a finale that fully leaned into the show’s eerie and offbeat tone, emphasizing that something more sinister was simmering beneath the surface in the coastal town.

In the final episode, Mayor Tom Loftis finally began to understand that the strange events plaguing the town aren’t random and cannot be brushed off, especially as they have a direct connection to him.

Some residents seem more aware of the truth than others—though how much do they actually know? Dale is horrified watching the recruitment tape, but someone has to remember the sacrifices that were made. Some characters seem to only begin to realize the scope of what’s going on, meaning the town may be choosing who understands the truth and when.

Tom believes the only way to stop the island’s curse is to kill Ruth, the sweet elderly secretary who works for him, who he believes is the last living descendant of the town’s devilish founder, Richard Warren.

He tries to drug Ruth, but as the effects start to kick in, she drops a bombshell that changes everything—she had a secret child. And she watched that secret child grow up and marry… Tom. Ruth’s daughter is Tom’s late wife, Lauren, who suffered a sudden stroke and lost her vision as she tried to leave the island while pregnant, before eventually passing away in a psychiatric hospital, proving that original islanders and bloodline descendants cannot ever escape the island.

And since they had a son, Evan, he is the last true descendant, and while he’s alive, the curse continues. Sheriff Bechir arrives and shoots Ruth, believing it will stop everything to protect his unborn child from the curse, but Tom informs him she’s not the last descendant. He then lies and says he has no idea who is, clearly unable to sacrifice his own son for the greater good. The storm stops, however, leading him to think that maybe the curse was broken… until they hear the church bells ring again days later.

As Dale learned in his video, the island demands human sacrifices, and each bell toll represents one life, or as the recruitment video states, “one soul for each bell toll.”

No one knows why the storm stopped; however, town custodian Kenny became trapped in the hidden tunnel and was killed as a sacrifice while trying to help Evan and his friends, fulfilling the island’s demand for a short while.

Going into season 2, there’s plenty of unanswered questions, starting with what will Tom do? Who knows about Widow’s Bay’s sacrifices? Is there another way out? Why is the town cursed to begin with? Is there a chance that killing Evan won’t break the curse?

Ted Lasso Season 4 Episode 9 Reveals [SPOILER] Is Pregnant — And It Changes Everything

Ted Lasso Season 4 Episode 9

Ted Lasso Season 4 Episode 9 delivered plenty of twists, but one pregnancy reveal has everyone talking.

The penultimate episode packed in several major moments, starting with the shocking death of Mae Green, who passed away while cheering on an away game for the Lady Greyhounds, a devastating yet strangely fitting sendoff.

There was also a major power-play twist. It turns out it wasn’t Rupert, Rebecca’s ex-husband, quietly buying up shares to take control of AFC Richmond. Instead, it was Zelda Southport (Tracey Ullman). From the moment she appeared, Zelda gave off questionable vibes—and Rebecca clearly sensed it, even warning Keeley that people like Zelda can’t be trusted before seemingly softening and welcoming her into the fold.

But knowing Rebecca, it’s hard to believe (and I don’t want to believe) she’s let her guard down. She’s always had a sharp instinct for people (she was married to Rupert, after all), so there’s a good chance she’s playing the long game and keeping Zelda close because she already suspects the truth. If Rebecca and Leslie are onto her, they could even be feeding her false leads, using Rupert and the Milk sisters as a distraction while they build a case.

And with Mae reportedly holding a significant number of shares, her death could ultimately be the key to stopping Zelda’s takeover.

But the biggest moment of the episode had nothing to do with Richmond’s future—it was a personal twist no one saw coming.

Ted Lasso Season 4 Episode 9

Keeley’s Surprise Reveal Changes Everything

Early in the episode, Keeley collapses in the stands while cheering on the team. A visit to the doctor reveals two possible causes: high blood pressure or pregnancy.

That’s when it clicks, as Keeley checks her calendar and realizes she hasn’t had her period in eight weeks.

The timing is significant. It’s been about six weeks since she and Roy got back together, meaning their long, drawn-out will-they-or-won’t-they arc has quickly jumped ahead to something much bigger.

Keeley takes multiple pregnancy tests, all of which come back positive. Still, she keeps the news from Roy at first, choosing to confide in Rebecca instead, who quickly pieces it together over dinner when Keeley avoids raw fish and sticks to water versus the usual wine.

“We’re having a baby,” Rebecca declares, as they erupt in cheers at the restaurant.

As Richmond heads into a crucial match against Bristol City, Roy is tasked with keeping Keeley calm and away from streaming and feeling the stress of the game.

After a dramatic 3–2 win, Keeley finally shares the news with him. Any hesitation quickly fades, as she realizes how excited she is and how naturally Roy fits into this next chapter.

His reaction? He calls it the best news ever!

After everything Keeley and Roy have been through, this moment feels earned, even if it is rushed in the context of season 4. Fans complained the season spent too much time building up to their reunion, but now it’s full steam ahead.

I’m personally hoping this doesn’t take a devastating turn, as the episode planted some subtle concern with mention of Keeley’s high blood pressure, which she’s already been researching when it comes to hypertensive pregnancy.

Still, for now, fans should bask in the happy news that the first Richmond baby is on its way!

What did you think of the reveal? Are you excited to see Keeley and Roy become parents? Do you think it was rushed?

What Happened to Mae Green in ‘Ted Lasso’? Season 4 Episode 9 Plot Twist and Ending Explained

Published

on

Ted Lasso Season 4 Episode 9

Ted Lasso Season 4 Episode 9 aired on Sept. 30, and the penultimate episode dropped plenty of plot twists and cliffhangers.

Among them was the Lady Greyhounds’ defeat against Bristol City, a joyous moment for every Richmond fan watching from the stands and streaming the game on their devices at home.

But the celebration was short-lived for Ted and Rebecca Welton, as they received the news that there was an “incident” involving Mae Green.

Who Is Mae Green on Ted Lasso?

Mae Green, played by Annette Badland, is the pub owner and barmaid of The Crown & Anchor in Richmond. She’s been a recurring character in the series since season 1, building rapport with Ted, Coach Beard and both the men’s and women’s teams. She even gave Ted and the Richmond teams a place to relax after intense moments, and rented the apartment above the bar to Ted upon his return in season 4.

In the episode “Mae Rides The Bus,” Mae joins the team for a two-and-a-half-hour bus ride to see the game in person, opting to sit in the supporters section to enjoy the experience as a true fan rather than the box with Rebecca and Leslie.

Before the game, she bonds heavily with the team, even giving them a pep talk in the locker room and revealing she once had big dreams of becoming a footballer when she was younger.

“Growing up, all I wanted to do was be a footballer, but women weren’t allowed to play officially…I had a right foot like a rosebush. But my left, even worse! But you girls are different. You’re talented. You belong on that pitch. And I love to see it. So go out there and make an old lady happy. And beat the fucking shit out of them,” she states in her final monologue.

What Happened to Mae Green on Ted Lasso Season 4 Episode 9?

It’s implied that Mae dies as the Richmond game is unfolding against Bristol City. In one moment, we see her dancing to “Jump,” and in the next moment, the fans are calling for assistance as the medical team rushes out. “It’s Ms. Green,” a man tells Rebecca, delivering the unfortunate news.

Rebecca looks distraught after being told the news, though there’s no confirmation as to what she was told. She then visits the Richmond team in the locker room, cutting Ted’s victorious celebration short. The scene shows Rebecca passing along the news to Ted, who bows his head down, though, again, we don’t hear exactly what happened.

However, the assumption is that Mae had a medical emergency while watching Richmond score the final winning goal—possibly from getting too excited during the celebration (Keeley’s blood pressure situation seems to be a bit of foreshadowing)—and passed away shortly after, which would explain the somber mood that followed.

Did Mae Green Die on Ted Lasso Season 4 Episode 9?

While it is not confirmed during the episode that Mae died, Badland spoke with Deadline shortly after to confirm the character’s death.

“That’s what happens. You’re involved with folks, and they disappear. They go, and she loved her life,” Badland said, adding, “She made the very best of her life and really relished it. So she went, I suppose, for her, in the very best way.”

Mae died doing what she loved to do—supporting the Richmond team during an away game as a fan!

Balland admitted to Deadline that she didn’t know what was going to happen till about “November.”

“We were only an episode away filming that. I was shocked, but I’m very proud being in the show, and I admire Jason [Sudeikis]. I think the series is so successful because people smell it’s very genuine. The audience know it’s not made cynically. It’s not a product. It’s something Jason wants to say about the world and how we are, so you have to trust that.”

“I don’t know when I’ll die. You just don’t know. So, being told that it was going to happen quite close to it being filmed, you just have to go. ‘Well, that’s [that]. He told me in the storyline, so he started at the beginning [with] “I invite her to come, and blah blah, and she won’t drive, and then she comes to the grounds and she goes in the bus,” and I’m going, “Oh wow, this is…” and then “She passes.” [Gulps.] But hopefully that’s what will happen for the audience too,” she expressed.

What Comes Next After Mae’s Death Plot Twist?

As for our hopes following Mae’s death? That she leaves the pub to Ted and his son, as it would be fitting for them to carry on her legacy, making the pub the official place for Richmond fans to celebrate every win and loss! Not to mention, it would be a deeply beautiful way to honor their number one fan from the start.

There’s also the storyline of the shares, as Rebecca believes her ex, Rupert, is seemingly forcing people to sell theirs so he can take majority control of the team. In the final moments, it’s confirmed that Zelda Southport (Tracey Ullman) is scooping them up instead, but we likely shouldn’t worry because Mae may just have one more ace up her sleeve. (I almost hope that Leslie and Rebecca know this and they’ve been keeping Zelda close by for that reason.)

Badland confirms that Mae has shares and they will come into play moving forward, stating, “Well, she had a very large pile of shares. I mean, they were about “yay high” (gestures to table height she sits at.) She uses them to good effect. Her instructions are for them to be used in a particular way that is quite good.”

It seems like a fitting sendoff for Mae—getting to witness the winning game in person, followed by one final act to save Richmond.
