Half the time, I have no idea what is happening on Riverdale, but I love it.
Maybe if I snorted some Jingle Jangle — or whatever it is that you’re supposed to do with the drug — I would be more “woke.”
But I have no idea where to buy JJ — the Riverdale neighborhood in town doesn’t sell it — so I was just as confused as Betty was when Jughead rambled on about G&G being engrained in the town and/or a metaphor for their daily lives.
I think he was trying to say that they’ve been playing an off-board version of the game unknowingly for a really long time.
And hey, maybe he’s right.
After the revelation that Warden Norton was playing the game and relying on what it told him to do with his juvie prisoners, I’m willing to bet money that Hiram Lodge is the Gargoyle King and the gamemaster then and now.
Think about it — out of that whole group, the only one deranged enough to use a game to control people is Hiram. He has control of the rest of the town, maybe it’s through the game.
Do I think that Hiram is the one dressed up in the costume or the GK, who probably does overtime as the Dark Lord on Chilling Adventures of Sabrina? Nope. He has people that do it for him, obviously.
Why else would the Warden take such a vested interest in Archie? He didn’t even call him by his real name when Archie escaped, he referred to him as the Red Paladin.
Also, I’m having some trouble keeping up with the rules of the game but in order to ascend to the highest level are you supposed to drink the blue poison? Was the Warden being rewarded? Because his orders were clearly to kill Archie and he didn’t get it done.
This was by far the most creative Riverdale episode bringing to life Jughead’s wild theories that the game is real by paralleling the game Jughead, Cheryl, Toni, Fangs and Sweet Pea were playing to Archie’s rescue mission.
Veronica is a boss babe for breaking her man out like some small-town version of Prison Break, but Betty is the real badass. Did you see her in that Serpent jacket channeling young Alice and outrunning the guards on Juggie’s bike? Yas, queen. She did that!
It was also a nice touch to have the teens form a pact around Archie’s escape just like their parents did as the Midnight Club. I especially liked that the Northsiders and the Serpents all came together as one to rally around their friend. Oh, how far we’ve come.
Do you think anyone will find Archie before he has time to heal or catch up on all these chaos like Dilton’s bunker, Dilton’s death, and a game that’s taken the small town by storm?
- Joaquin is clearly playing the game too. When he said he joined another gang, I’m assuming he meant a G&G team. He also kissed and stabbed Archie because the Warden promised him he’d ascend. I’m actually concerned about him.
- Toni and Cheryl are goals.
- I can’t figure out why Hiram is so obsessed with Archie. It seems that there’s more to it then just hatred because he’s dating Veronica.
- Anyone notice that since Camila Mendes (Veronica) and Charles Melton (Reggie) began dating, he’s shared a lot more screentime with her? Also, he’s such a dumb jock at times.
- Mayor McCoy and Sheriff Keller are getting married. I’d say things are moving rather quickly but since they were together back in the day, it makes a bit more sense.
- MadDog is ripped as all hell. There’s no way he couldn’t rip all of those guards to shreds.
What did you think of the episode? Do you like the G&G storyline? Is Jughead way in over his head? Was he just hallucinating the Gargoyle King in the forest cause he’d been running on barely any sleep?
Where do you think we go from here? And where are the members of The Farm?
‘Riverdale’ Time Jump: Meet Veronica’s Husband (Nope, It’s Not Archiekins)
Changes are underway for our favorite Riverdale residents when season 5 premieres and this casting news is not going to sit well with “Varchie” fans.
The CW series cast The Perfectionists Chris Mason to play Veronica Lodge’s husband, Deadline reports.
Now, you might be wondering why Veronica has a husband in high school, but the series is planning to time jump several years once it wraps up the remaining episodes from season 4 that were delayed by the COVID pandemic, which include senior prom and graduation.
This all means that in those few years, Veronica and Archie called it quits. Maybe it had something to do with his feelings for Betty Cooper?
The casting also reveals that Ronnie will be making her way to the Big Apple following high school as Mason, who will play a Chad Gekko, is described as a Wall Street banker.
And you know how Archie is all easy-going and artistic? Well, that’s not Chad at all. Veronica’s husband is described as a “controlling and jealous alpha male.” Hmmm, sounds like Hiram Lodge, right?
“Chad is threatened by Veronica’s life in Riverdale, especially her friendship with Archie,” the official description notes.
With Chad and Veronica’s relationship already on the outs before it even had a chance to thrive, does that mean there’s a chance Veronica and Archie reconcile eventually?
While it’s unclear what the future holds, we also know that Vanessa Morgan’s real-life pregnancy is being written into the show. Is it a Choni baby? Or has Riverdale’s other favorite couple also broken up?
Mason is set to appear in the fourth episode of the series, which returns on Wednesday, January 20, and while we’re excited to see how senior year pans out and to finally solve the mystery of those VHS tapes, we also can’t wait to see what post-college life looks for everyone!
What do you think of this casting news? Sound off in the comments!
Is a #Choni Baby on the Way? Vanessa Morgan Says Her Pregnancy Will Be Written Into ‘Riverdale’
Toni Topaz is having a baby!
“Officially on maternity leave!!!! Ahh!! Feeling grateful to my showrunner & producers for being so accommodating & writing my pregnancy into the show!🤰🏽Also proud of my body for allowing me to still work almost 9 months preggo. Now time to have a baby,” she captioned an Instagram photo behind-the-scenes of The CW show.
It seems that Toni’s pregnancy will become part of the five-year flash-forward story arc, which has many fans wondering if she’s still dating Cheryl Blossom.
Is a Choni baby on the way?
Riverdale Season 5 was supposed to kick off with a time-jump. However, since Riverdale Season 4 was cut short by the COVID pandemic, the time-jump has been slightly pushed back.
Not much has been revealed about the time-jump as the upcoming season 5 trailer focuses mostly on the VHS tape mystery and senior prom, however, show creator Roberto Aguirre Sacasa gave fans a glimpse at “future Kevin Keller.”
Morgan’s Riverdale castmates helped her celebrate her baby boy with a Halloween-themed baby shower!
The actress dressed up with Camila Mendes (Veronica), Lili Reinhart (Betty) and Madelaine Petsch (Cheryl). She was a skeleton while the trio dressed as Blossom, Buttercup and Bubbles from The Powerpuff Girls.
Who Is Behind Riverdale’s Disturbing and Mysterious VHS Tapes?
The Riverdale season 5 trailer reveals that we’ll finally be getting to the bottom of the VHS tape mystery… and more specifically, the voyeur behind the increasingly violent and disturbing tapes.
Aside from the prom, the tapes — many of which have featured hours of footage of the exterior of residents’ homes — seem to be the crux of the upcoming season as the writers wrap up all the storylines that were intended for season 4 before it was cut short by the coronavirus pandemic.
Season 5 was initially supposed to kick-off with a five-year time-jump, which fans are hoping will happen sooner rather than later.
Let’s take a look at some potential suspects who may be responsible for the tapes:
Charles (and Chic)
Charles has the time, access, and control of the situation. He’s been privy to every “private” situation since he’s so close to Jughead, Betty, and the inner-circle and eavesdrops on their conversations. He could have gotten the other tapes when the FBI raided the Blue Velvet, plus he’s able to distribute the videos as many keep popping up at his workplace. Charles has been helping the duo investigate the videos and yet, they aren’t any closer to figuring out the truth, which could be his play all along. Maybe he’s manipulating them as part of a larger agenda.
Fans have suspected him from day one since he hasn’t been truly honest about who he is and what his motivations are. And then there’s the fact that he has a secret relationship with Chic, the disturbed man who pretended to be him in previous seasons and also wants revenge on the Cooper/Jones fmailies. He’s a prime-suspect… and for good reason!
We know Bret was using outdated technology — ahem, VHS tapes — for blackmail purposes, but would they be that obvious? Maybe Bret and the Stonies are playing some long game because we know that they truly despised Jughead and Betty.
They’d obviously want revenge for getting thrown in jail, but if Bret is behind bars, who is doing his dirty work? In the trailer, he also warns Jughead and Betty of what’s coming next, which paints him as a suspect. How else would he possibly know anything unless he’s responsible/in cahoots with someone that’s behind the tapes? There’s only so much he can do behind bars.
There’s always a chance that Mr. Honey is still alive. After all, it wouldn’t be the first time this show has faked a character death, possibly to further his plans. He took the job at Stonewall Prep (plagued with its own issues) rather quickly!
The Riverdale season 4 finale attempted to redeem him, but Mr. Honey was pegged at the season’s villain when he made it clear he had a vendetta against the students for no reason. And he always had a weird obsession with Riverdale and its residents and was even caught trying to make his own movie, which he explained as an attempt at protecting the students. The person behind the videos is re-enacting Riverdale’s darkest mysteries and moments as to punish and teach those involved a lesson, and who better than someone who has been getting to know the town on a personal level?
It’s wishful thinking to have run Evelyn out of town. She’s crazy enough to be able to pull off anything, as we’ve seen with her dealings with the Farm. She’s also never shied away from her desire to torture Betty and the rest of her friends even while behind bars! Maybe she’s still in cahoots with Donna? The enemy of my enemy is my friend after all. Evelyn has plenty of reasons to want revenge for the murder of her husband, Edgar. Or maybe Edgar is still alive? And they’re both pulling the strings to torture the town!
There were a lot of “Farmies” that were brainwashed, so she could even be getting help from anyone including the likes of Mr. Weatherbee or poor Kevin.
And let’s be honest, she’s never actually cared about the residents of Riverdale — she’s always enjoyed messing with them.
I’ll be surprised when there’s a day that Hiram Lodge isn’t behind the creepy happenings in Riverdale. Whoever is making the videos knows personal details about specific incidents such as Jason and Clifford Blossom’s deaths. Hiram knows everything; he has people and eyes everywhere, and he’s not above an evil scheme if it works in his favor. Over the past seasons, he’s become less and less villainous (though, he’s tried), so maybe this is his way of redeeming himself in a final hurrah.
Jelly Bean would have been a strong contender in this category. Her arrival was under false pretenses and coincided with the arrival of the tapes. She hasn’t had an easy upbringing, it was upended, and then her mother was sent away, so maybe she’s bored and lashing out. However, all of that seems to be discredited by the clip in the trailer which shows her getting a knife dragged across her face as she sleeps peacefully.
Other possibilities include Betty in a compelled trance, Jason Blossom from beyond the grave, or Polly, who was also easily pulled in by The Farmies.
I’d like it best if all the “villains” — Charles, Chic, Ethel, Evelyn, Donna, and Bret — were all working together to mess with the rest of the town.
Why do you think the voyeur is doing this? Is it another situation like the Black Hood trying to “wipe out” the sin in town? Is there a darker reason behind the tapes? Or is this just an amateur stalker hoping to get a rise out of the small town residents?
