Things are about to get really complicated for Liam on The Royals.
Last week we saw his visit a mystery blonde. At first, I thought I just forgot who she was but eventually realized we’d never met her. I assumed she was Robert’s GF considering Liam had been thinking about his late brother a lot lately. Well, I was right. We found out her name is Kathryn and she was dating Robert before he died. Liam finally made his feelings for her known and she insisted he “stay” at her place, which basically meant, they hooked up.
This wouldn’t be a problem except for the fact that WE know Robert is actually still alive and stranded on the island where his plane crashed. Throughout the episode, we see him having hallucinations and seeing Kathryn. He’s also coming clean to the media about how he actually wanted to stay on the island, even though he could have been saved multiple times. Being stranded alone for a long time can do that to ya! Eventually though, he hears a plane in the distance and sends out a distress call. Talk about timing right? With everything Liam is going through – how will he deal knowing he slept with his brother’s ex because he thought he was dead only to find out he’s still alive?
Eleanor also did the one thing she knew how to do best this week – sabotage her relationship. After Jasper realized he could never publicly date the princess because the media would rip him to pieces and figure out his real identity, he tried to push her away. When he said they weren’t “exclusive” she decided to go to EDC and make him jealous. Of course it worked and we got to see Jasper knock out every single dude that flirted with the princess. Ugh, we need ourselves a Jasper!
Finally, Jasper told her how he really felt but explained that it wasn’t fair to ask her to keep her love life a secret. At this point, I feel like for the first time, we finally got a glimpse at the real Eleanor – the one who opened up to Jasper and revealed that she’s just a hopeless romantic looking for someone to stick by her side and leave her romantic notes in hidden books, just like royals did way back when. Jasper does and for now, things seem promising between these two.
Queen Helena was finally able to outsmart King Cyrus and get her hands on his DNA…. his removed testicle of course. Her whole plan is to prove that Liam and Eleanor are the legitimate children of King Simon and then Liam will be heir to the throne. She’s so certain she even hired Wilhemina to be the social media gal after #KingLiam was such a successful movement. This is probably not the best idea considering Cyrus just killed her father – can’t wait till she finds out about all that. Oh and let’s not forget Cyrus is trying to win people’s sympathy vote by revealing his cancer diagnosis on live television… dressed as the damn joker no less.
But honestly, the cutest part of this episode? Hill’s daughter. She woke Eleanor up by laying in her bed, declared that she was in a relationship with Jasper and was just downright way too cute for life. Not sure if she’ll play a bigger role in the series but she’s offers a nice change of pace to that crazed palace.
The Royals – With Mirth in Funeral and With Dirge in Marriage (4×10)
It’s a wedding fit for the Royals.
In other words, The Royals Season 4 Episode 10 was the culmination of Queen Helena, Cyrus and Liam’s master plan to take down Robert once and for all.
I’ll be honest; there are only a handful of TV episodes that I’ve watched where I’ve felt pure anxiety throughout the whole hour. “With Mirth in Funeral and With Dirge in Marriage” shot up to the top of the list.
The Royals – Foul Deeds Rise (4×09)
The Royals – In The Dead Vast and Middle of the Night (4×08)
Before a royal wedding, there’s a royal bachelorette and bachelor party.
But on The Royals Season 4 Episode 8, neither event went as planned.
Despite her objections, Eleanor and Queen Helena threw Willow a “hen party” complete with massages, champagne and a chocolate fountain. Sounds relaxing, right?
