It’s been quite a long wait, but it’s nearly over as we’re mere days away from Stranger Things‘ fifth and final season coming to Netflix.

The episodes will be spread across several weeks, with the final episodes airing on New Year’s Eve. After previously saying it wouldn’t be showing the finale in theaters, the streamer reversed its stance.

Those who are gearing up for one last adventure in Hawkins will now be able to see it pan out on the big screen, surrounded by other Stranger Things fans, though it will only be airing in select theaters later this year.

If you didn’t have New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day plans yet, you do now.

Limited theatrical screenings of the final episode will happen across more than 350 theaters in both the US and Canada, starting on Dec. 31 at 5 pm PT.

The theatrical release will be timed exactly to the global release on Netflix, so you won’t get an advantage, but it likely will be a more interactive experience. Can you imagine hearing Vecna’s powerful booming voice in a theater setting? Chills.

Screenings will be running through Jan 1, 2026, in case you don’t carve out the time on NYE, but be sure you avoid spoilers at all possible costs.

We didn’t wait this long to have it spoiled via Instagram feeds.

“We’re beyond excited that fans will have the chance to experience the final episode of Stranger Things in theaters — it’s something we’ve dreamed about for years, and we’re so grateful to Ted, Bela, and everyone at Netflix for making it happen,” series creators Matt and Ross Duffer told Tudum during the announcement. “Getting to see it on the big screen, with incredible sound, picture, and a room full of fans, feels like the perfect — dare we say bitchin’ — way to celebrate the end of this adventure.”

It sure sounds epic, but for now, there haven’t been any details about which theaters will be chosen for the screening, as fans anticipate and hope a theater near them is selected.

It’s unclear when additional details will be announced, but we’ll keep this post updated when we do find out more information.

One Reddit user pointed out that Netflix partners with AMC, so that’s likely a choice for theaters. Fandango has the film listed with a run time of 1 hour and 17 minutes, but no additional information is available.

And there seems to be plenty of interest to watch the finale on the big screen, so once tickets go on sale, be sure to act fast and secure yours.

The Way Home - When Will Season 3 Arrive on Netflix?

The Way Home wrapped up its fourth and final season this summer, on June 21, 2026, on the Hallmark Channel.

Now, three months later, fans who first heard of the show when it was added to Netflix will be able to stream the final season.

When Is The Way Home Season 4 Coming to Netflix?

The Way Home Season 4 is officially available on Netflix starting today, Thursday, Oct. 1, 2026.

Fans can stream all 10 episodes in the final installment to find out how it all ends for the three generations of Landry women!

If you want to read our review, you can find it right here—but be warned, it contains plenty of spoilers!

Will There Be a The Way Home Season 5?

Sadly, there is no news about a fifth season of The Way Home.

Many hoped that after Hallmark prematurely cancelled the series, which was intended to run five seasons, Netflix would swoop in and save it, especially after it got such a huge boost following its addition to the streamer.

Unfortunately, there hasn’t been any confirmation that Netflix is interested in another season—though the cast has expressed interest if the opportunity presented itself.

Maybe following the success of season 4 on Netflix, the streamer will have a change of heart?

You can see what the creators had in mind for a fifth season right here.

Main Cast of The Way Home

  • Alex Hook as teenage Kat Landry
  • David Webster as teenage Elliot Augustine
  • Jefferson Brown as Colton Landry

2 Fan-Favorite Dramas Were Unexpectedly Cancelled This Week at Both Netflix and Prime Video—And It’s Concerning

Ride or Die and Sweet Magnolias Canceled

It’s been a brutal week for fans of two TV shows across Netflix and Prime Video.

Netflix cancelled Sweet Magnolias, ending the show’s five-season run, while Prime Video hit its newest action-drama Ride or Die with an abrupt and unexpected end.

Sweet Magnolias series creator and showrunner Sheryl J. Anderson paid tribute to the show on Instagram, writing: “Living in Serenity for five seasons has been a privilege and a blessing. The people I’ve met and worked with — our incredible writers, cast, crew, executives, and producers — have touched my heart and changed my life. And our fans have been amazing in their passion for our characters. Thank you all. Though our journey has sadly come to an end, I hope Serenity will always have a place in your heart. Keep pouring it out!”

The series, a feel-good romantic drama set in a small Southern town called Serenity, based on the book series by Sherryl Woods, followed three best friends—Maddie (JoAnna Garcia Swisher), Dana Sue (Brooke Elliot) and Helen (Heather Headley), as they navigated romance, family dynamics, careers, personal goals and dreams, and more with grace. It was a comfy, small-town series that felt like home more and more with each passing season, which is what makes the cancellation sting so much.

There’s not enough pouring it out to make it make sense, though; the dip in traffic each season is likely the reason behind Netflix’s decision, as viewership dropped 30% in the last season, per Deadline. It marked a much more severe drop-off than the one seen in Seasons 3 and 4, with only a 13% dip, as many fans complained there wasn’t enough advertising to make fans aware there even was a new season available in the first place.

Meanwhile, Prime Video pulled the plug on the Octavia Spencer and Hannah Waddingham thriller after just one season, shocking fans, especially as the series had plenty of potential.

Both shows, though quite different in nature and premise, featured strong female leads and underscored the power of friendship.

Ride or Die’s lack of season 2 renewal was a big shock, particularly because it was so well received, as Deadline reports it immediately shot to No. 1 in the US and logged 927 views in just 2 days of its release.

Spencer, who played Debbie Claybourne, the best friend to Waddingham’s Judith Barton, who was a secret international assasin, took to Instagram, writing, in part, “Projects like this shouldn’t be the exception, they should be the rule! For all the women out there who felt seen, laughed out loud, lived out loud with Debbie and Judith, thank you. This was a fun one! Thank you Tessa Coates! Massive thank you to you, Jen Salke! You’ve always had exquisite taste!”

Parent Trap and Abbott Elementary actress Lisa Ann Walter commented what we’re all thinking, “They’re insane. Biggest hit prime has had in a minute,” while Ruby Rose added, “This is in the top 10 CRAZIEST cancellations of all time. This PROVES WE ARE NOT ON A REAL TIMELINE!”

And this, of course, follows the cancellation of Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly’s western rom-com Ransom Canyon after its second season, proving that absolutely nothing and no one is safe.

With so many shows across a plethora of streaming platforms—maybe we’ve just spread viewership too thin? I can’t be the only one who is fed up with paying $10+ for every single service, forced to pick and choose who I support and what I watch. But in the case of Ride or Die, even promising numbers didn’t sway the powers that be. With everything growing more expensive with each passing day in this economy, maybe this is a sign of the times? Will more shows that fans love and pour their heart and soul into suffer the same fate? Should we stop getting invested altogether?

Virgin River Season 5 Episode 7

Fan-favorite small-town shows like Virgin River, The Way Home and One Tree Hill are joining forces for a first-ever experience.

As Virgin River fans patiently await season 8, there’s something else they can look forward to.

Ben Hollingsworth, who plays Dan Brady on the hit Netflix drama, took to Instagram for a first-ever announcement that delighted fans.

“Virgin River fans, I know you’re excited. You want to know: is Brady coming back for season 8? You want to know when season 8’s coming out? You want to know if there’s going to be a season 9. Well…” he begins, before a censored sticker covers his mouth and a bleep-out noise cuts off any sliver of news he was going to share.

“I’m just joking, I can’t tell you any of that,” he admits, before revealing something equally as exciting for the fandom.

“What I can tell you is that for the first time ever, me and a bunch of my Virgin River cast mates are going to be doing a convention.”

And it’s not just any convention, as he clarifies that it isn’t like “one of those mall ones,” adding that this one is “tailored just for shows like ours.”

By that, he meets small town shows, which have carved out a place for themselves in the TV landscape.

“It’s called Meet Cute con and the theme is small town television,” he added, noting, “that’s basically Virgin River.”

People reports it will include “celebrity panels, live music, interactive experiences, and Southern food for an intimate fan experience.”

But it’s not just Virgin River!

Other small town hows included in Meet Cute Con include One Tree Hill and The Way Home.

The confirmed guest list for Small-Town Swoon is as follows: One Tree Hill alum Jana Kramer, The Way Home‘s Evan Williams, and Virgin River stars Alexandra Breckenridge, Martin Henderson, Hollingsworth and Zibby Allen.
