First time reviewing the Royals and what a delight. This weeks episode picked up with the King’s attack. Who did it? Were the royals actually under attack? That was yet to be determined although we totally know who did it and why. Prince Cyrus is so deceitful and I honestly would be okay with someone stabbing him really close to the heart.
At first, I thought taking out the King was done in order to stop the referendum from being signed off on and passed. Referendum passing means the end of a monarchy and for those who are shallow, there’s nothing worse because they wouldn’t know what else to do. Theoretically, with the King taken out, Liam steps in as “temporary King” and I figured that was good enough for Queen Helena as she figured she could persuade him into doing whatever she wanted.
But the plan was so much more than that. In fact, Helena put up a front pretending to get her noble, kind hearted son ready for the throne. As he was taking the oath, Cyrus busted in and threw a curveball- Liam wasn’t the actual heir to the throne because he wasn’t really the King’s son. Yes, he totally called the Queen a whore. Even worse; Helena could not actually tell the children who their father was. Scandalous. Right?
It gets worse. Turns out the Queen only pretended to be shocked and ashamed by Cyrus’s behavior. This was actually the plan all along. The two concocted it in order to stop Liam from taking the throne because they knew damn well he was a righteous human who would follow in his fathers footsteps. To them he isn’t fit for the throne, especially choosing love with Ophelia over much of everything. I simply just cannot understand how a mother could screw over her own child like that. How a mother could go through with getting her husband nearly killed, then lie to her children’s faces and pull a fast one on them and pretend that their father isn’t really their father. The two were getting DNA tests in the end of the episode so I guess we’ll see next week although I don’t think it would be hard for Helena to rig those too.
Thankfully, I don’t think Helena and Cyrus’s reign will last very long. Everyone has already begun seeing through them. The King, Ophelia, her father, Eleanor and even Liam. It’s only a matter of time before all of this gets exposed. And to be honest, Princess Eleanor is so smart when she isn’t always high. She quickly caught onto the fact that her mother was screwing Jasper. I love that she got him arrested. I was rooting for him until I realized he’s complete and total scum. But no one is worse than Cyrus!
Do you think the King will wake up? Will the DNA test prove that they are his children? How does Cyrus plan on getting the crown then?
The Royals – With Mirth in Funeral and With Dirge in Marriage (4×10)
It’s a wedding fit for the Royals.
In other words, The Royals Season 4 Episode 10 was the culmination of Queen Helena, Cyrus and Liam’s master plan to take down Robert once and for all.
I’ll be honest; there are only a handful of TV episodes that I’ve watched where I’ve felt pure anxiety throughout the whole hour. “With Mirth in Funeral and With Dirge in Marriage” shot up to the top of the list.
The Royals – Foul Deeds Rise (4×09)
The Royals – In The Dead Vast and Middle of the Night (4×08)
Before a royal wedding, there’s a royal bachelorette and bachelor party.
But on The Royals Season 4 Episode 8, neither event went as planned.
Despite her objections, Eleanor and Queen Helena threw Willow a “hen party” complete with massages, champagne and a chocolate fountain. Sounds relaxing, right?
