Emily in Paris is one of those shows that feels like it’ll continue on forever.
The feel-good series, following Emily Cooper’s adventures in the City of Lights, allows us to romanticize and escape from modern-day issues.
But sadly, it’s about to come to an end, as Netflix revealed a shocking update about season 6—it will be the rom-com’s last… and it’s time to say goodbye.
As production begins in Greece today, with the new season taking Emily and Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) to another picturesque European country, the series creator Darren Star made the unfortunate reveal in a statement.
“Making Emily in Paris with this extraordinary cast and crew has been the trip of a lifetime,” he began, adding, “As we embark on the final season, I am so grateful to Netflix, Paramount and, most importantly, the fans who have taken this incredible journey with us.”
“We can’t wait to share this last chapter with you. Thank you for letting us be a part of your lives, inspiring your dreams of travel and your love of Paris. We will always have Emily in Paris!” he concluded.
Lily Collins, who brings Emily to life, confirmed the news with a video announcement on social media, stating,”Hey, it’s Lily, I just wanted to share something with you all,” Collins said in the footage. “After six unforgettable years of playing Emily Cooper, I’m here to share that this upcoming sixth season will be our final.”
She continued, teasing what fans can expect from the upcoming sixth and final season, noting, “Season 6 will bring you everything you love about the show and serve as the final chapter in Emily’s adventure of a lifetime. Our entire cast and crew are pouring our hearts into making this a fantastic farewell season, which we’re now filming. I can’t wait for all the magic ahead and to celebrate our final season with you in the most chic way yet. We’re so incredibly grateful and we love you all, à bientôt!”

Fans had plenty of thoughts, which they shared in the comments, as one wrote, “Hoping Emily and Gabriel’s story ends with the happiness they’re looking for 🤗.”
“The last season 💔 This show was my refuge during the pandemic. I’ll miss the cast, the outfits, Paris, and all the glamour. Thank you, Lily, for giving us Emily and her Parisian adventures,” another expressed.
Many felt it was too soon, stating, “this show could last for 27 seasons and i’d watch it every time” and “I could have watched this show forever!! Going to miss it 😢😢.”

Emily in Paris Season 5 dropped on Netflix on Dec. 18, 2025, but that ending has everyone asking the same question—is Emily in Paris Season 6 happening?
And the good news is that yes, fans will be able to tap into more of Emily’s adventures because the Lily Collins-led series was renewed for a sixth season on Jan. 5, 2026, per Deadline.

Yes, Netflix officially renewed Emily in Paris for Season 6.
The news comes roughly two weeks after the streaming giant dropped 10 episodes of season 5! And it ended with many fans wondering what’s next for Emily.
There were also many cliffhangers involving Mindy and the love triangle she found herself in, Alfie’s romantic feelings for her, and the future of Agence Grateau, so naturally, fans are thrilled to know that the story will continue on.
Where Will Emily in Paris Season 6 Take Place?
That remains TBD! While some parts of season 6 will likely take place in Paris, as the title suggests, season 5 made it possible for Emily’s travels to take her to explore other parts of Europe. The finale of Emily in Paris Season 5 saw Gabriel extending an invitation for Emily to join him in Greece, after finding out that she and Marcello broke up, so Season 6 may explore Emily and Gabriel’s moment in the sun in the Greek country! Only time will tell!
Emily in Paris Season 5 is paying tribute to one of their own.
The series, which dropped brand new episodes of its fifth season on Thursday, Dec. 18, honored the late Diego Borella at the end of the season.
Just before the credits began to roll following the conclusion of the finale episode, a tribute flashed across the screen in black and white, reading, “In Memory of Diego Borella.”
Gone too soon, the assistant director died in August while filming the most recent season of the Netflix series.
Reports indicated that he collapsed in the evening of Aug. 21 while shooting the final scene of the day at Venice’s Hotel Danieli.
Attempts to revive him were ultimately unsuccessful, and he died on set.
Borella was 47.

Paramount Television Studios confirmed the news shortly after, with a statement to Entertainment Weekly reading, “We are deeply saddened to confirm the sudden passing of a member of the Emily in Paris production family. Our hearts go out to the individual’s family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.”
Production on the series halted for a few days to honor Borella and his contributions.
