Is everything perfect in Utopia?
As Amazon Prime’s new trailer reveals, it’s far from it.
The dystopian eight-part comic book conspiracy series written and produced by Gillian Flynn is inspired by a British series of the same name and focuses on a group of comic fans who meet online and bond over the seemingly fictional comic called “Utopia.”
Of course, when they realize that fiction is actually reality, threats begin to loom over the group from all sides including government leaders and healthy industry giants.
One of those threats includes a large-scale national pandemic, which hits a little too close to home.
A global pandemic on TV? Scary. A global pandemic on TV while it’s also happening in real life? Even scarier. See what I mean by the lines between reality and fiction blurring?
In the show’s defense, it was filmed well before COVID-19, so it’s just a timing issue that either is is setting itself up for massive success or a disaster in the making. Only time will tell.
Many aspiring actors who were extras when the show filmed in Chicago will tell you one thing — those hazmat suits are HOT! Especially when you’re filming in the dead of summer on one of the hottest days of the year.
But, that’s art, right? And they did it for all of you to enjoy from the comforts of quarantine. So, anytime you see those poor extras on the screen know that they were dedicated to the craft.
The official show synopsis reads:
“When the conspiracy in the elusive comic Utopia is real, a group of young fans come together to embark on a high-stakes twisted adventure to use what they uncover to save themselves, each other, and ultimately humanity.”
The series includes some familiar faces like John Cusak, Ashleigh LaThrop, Dan Byrd, Jessica Rothe, Desmin Borges, Javon Walton, Sasha Lane, Farrah Mackenzie, Christopher Denham and Cory Michael Smith.
WATCH: ‘YOU’ Season 3 Trailer Proves Joe and Love Are More Dangerous Than Ever
Can Joe and Love be the “nice, normal neighbors” in a “soulless suburb”?
You can probably answer that question without watching the new trailer for YOU season 3, but in case you can’t, the answer is absolutely not.
The murderous couple, now parents to a baby boy, are back to their old ways.
As Joe develops a new female obsession, Love gets jealous, and couple’s therapy… well, that doesn’t seem to work all that well for them.
As the killing commences — and their impulses take over — it seems as though the cops are hot on their trail.
Check out the trailer below! It’s all worth it solely for that final scene of Love and Joe burying a body of one of their victims as their adorable bundle of joy sits safely in his carseat and coos on.
The new season of YOU drops on Netflix on Friday, October 15.
This Is the One Celebrity Jennifer Aniston & Reese Witherspoon Want to Interview on ‘The Morning Show’
Filming The Morning Show is a lot harder than it looks.
As Witherspoon exclusively explained during E! News’ Daily Popon Sept. 15, she does not envy “having to tell the good news and the bad news at the same time,” onscreen. “It’s just a lot,” Witherspoon summed up.
Aniston added, “The hours that you have to live, the morning, the information you constantly have to take into your brain on a daily basis…We get to shut off the news and say, ‘I need a break for the next couple of days.'”
The two co-stars portray rival anchors on a fictional news show in the second season of the critically-acclaimed series, returning Friday, Sept. 17. And, fans can expect season two of The Morning Show to be just as riveting as the award-winning first season.
“We were worried about that because season one was such sort of a perfect little art installation in and of itself,” Aniston revealed. “That was not an easy task to sort of drum up, where do we go from here?”
Witherspoon teased, “We worked really hard and I think we did it. There’s good stuff.”
So, what would be their dream morning news segment to film? According to Aniston, a “meta” interview with Julia Roberts would be fun to shoot.
Meanwhile, Witherspoon is ready to hit the bar behind the news desk. “I think we do a scene where we do it when we’ve had four glasses of wine and then interview celebrities,” she quipped.
Aniston adorably agreed: “I’m so in. Sort of like a Hoda [Kotb] and Kathy Lee [Gifford]? Yeah, I’m into it.”
Watch the adorable interview above to hear why co-star Billy Crudup thinks producers Witherspoon and Aniston are “formidable” inspirations!
The Morning Show season two premieres Friday, Sept. 17 on AppleTV+.
Has ‘The Bachelor’ Season 26 Found Its Leading Man Already?
ABC may have found its leading man for the upcoming season of The Bachelor.
Clayton Echard has been announced as the lead for season 26, according to Variety.
However, if you’re not familiar with the name, you aren’t the only one.
The outlet reports that Bachelor Nation hasn’t met him yet because he’s part of Michelle Young’s season of The Bachelorette, which premieres on October 19.
Clearly, that means Echard did not find love with Young, but the franchise saw something in him that compelled them to cast him in the role before audiences were even able to weigh in.
The outlet notes producers fell in love with the 28-year-old from Missouri and tapped him for the upcoming season.
No official confirmation has been made by ABC, and it likely won’t be until later this year after Young’s season is underway.
However, Variety is reporting the news based on confirmation from multiple sources.
While there’s no premiere date for the upcoming season, The Bachelor typically premieres in January.
