‘Emily in Paris’ Season 4 Needs to Move Away from the Love-Triangle
Paris is the City of Love—Emily (Lily Collins) learned that early on after moving to the French city and finding chemistry with not one but two very attractive men: Alfie (Lucien Laviscount) and Gabriel (Lucas Bravo).
But, as we’ve learned over the course of seasons, it’s also the City of Love Triangles—messy ones at that.
Before Alfie entered the picture, the love triangle involved Emily, Gabriel, and his on-again-off-again girlfriend, Camille.
She’s still in the picture in the upcoming season, but their dynamic is slightly different as she revealed at the end of season 3 that she’s pregnant with Gabriel’s baby. Oh, and she began a love affair with a woman named Sofia Sideris, whom only Emily seems to know about.
Yes, love is messy, but does it have to keep being this messy? When there’s a sea of good-looking men—as Emily rediscovered early on in the season 4 trailer—does she have to keep bouncing back and forth between these two?
Love triangles aren’t a new thing—they’re a popular, cliche trope on many TV shows, oftentimes pitting two characters against one another and encouraging the fandoms to “ship” one of the couples. I’m unclear on the science—or if there even is anything backing it up—but love triangles increase engagement and suspense amongst audiences of all ages, providing a thrilling feeling of being caught up in the minutia of young, intoxicating love.
There’s a healthy balance there for fandoms to tap into, but the problem begins when a love triangle overstays its welcome.
It’s fun to go back and forth between suitors, but eventually, there comes a point where one stands out as the better choice—or both end up presenting themselves as a bad option, for various reasons and shared experiences.
Gabriel and Alfie both come with a ton of baggage at this point—and I’m not even talking physical, but emotional as well, but they’ve both also served their purpose throughout Emily’s journey through Paris, which included a heavy period of self-discovery.
When your significant other is no longer contributing to your growth, but simply tackling on drama, maybe it’s time to let go and see what else is out there, even if it means choosing yourself for a bit.
“I have the feeling she’s choosing herself at the end. No Alfie, No Gabriel,” one fan wrote under the Emily in Paris trailer, while someone else expressed anger if that ends up being the outcome, but isn’t it better to stay single than to end up in the wrong relationship, especially when you don’t know what you want? She’s been stringing them both along as options, but now, it’s time to make a commitment and choose an “endgame” so that the other can move on.
Emily is in her prime, so she doesn’t need to settle down just yet, however, if she does—if she finally knows which of the men—Alfie or Gabriel—she can’t live without (and I’m Team Alfie, by the way, though, I agree, sometimes, I feel he deserves better than someone who picks him as a second option as she’s been drawn to Gabriel since day one)—then she needs to stick by her choice once and for all.
The verdict on which man it will be remains split; for every “Team Alfie” comment follows a “Team Gabriel” comment, and both sides make compelling arguments, ranging from “everything is easier with Alfie” to “Gabriel has my heart.”
Once they resolve the matters of the heart, I’m here for all the frothy content that Emily in Paris always provides as we live vicariously through the lens of her experiences; a reprieve from the heaviness that is the real world. A place where Paris continues to remain a magical escape, the croissants don’t make a dent in your weight, and the outfits far exceed expectations with their glitz and glamor—at seemingly no cost (or closet space) for the protagonist.
Emily in Paris will debut on August 15 on Netflix, though, in controversial form, the 10 episodes will be broken up into two parts, with the second half of the season arriving a month later on September 12.

‘High Potential’ Hits a Huge High Note Ahead of Season 3

It’s pretty obvious why High Potential was renewed for a third season, especially if the season 2 finale is any indication of the drama’s draw and popularity.
It seems as though ending the drama on a huge cliffhanger (spoiler—fans have to wait till season 3 to see if Nick Wagner (Steve Howey) survives the ambush by whoever is trying to silence him and Morgan (Kaitlin Olson) from pursuing the Roman Sinquerra trail) paid off, as the ratings hit a high note.
Per Variety, the series wrapped up its run on April 7 with 12.69 million total viewers, per Nielsen live+7 multiplatform numbers.
While that’s slightly down from its freshman run finale, which hit 12.79 million viewers in February 2025, it’s way up from the season 2 premiere with 11.99 million viewers.
And it’s proof that the show has staying power, continuing to draw in eyeballs who remain invested in the series.
The outlet noted that the numbers were the best since February, “up 137% vs. the show’s live+same day average of 5.36 million viewers,” adding, “That multiplatform number is up 137% vs. the show’s live+same day average of 5.36 million viewers.”
The multiplatform ratings have the series tied with the success of CBS’s newest hit, Marshals.
This is great news for Olson and the cast, who celebrated the achievement on Instagram Story, thanking the fans for their loyalty.
The season finale packed in plenty of developments. In addition to Wagner’s potential demise (either way, he is leaving the series as a series regular, so if he survives, he’ll only return in a guest star capacity), Detective Karadec (Daniel Sunjata) experienced the ultimate heartache and betrayal with Lucia’s involvement in a murder. It was a twist of events that brought Karadec and Morgan even closer together.
High Potential is living up to its name and proving there’s plenty of store left to tell when it comes to this single mom and her special set of skills.
Re-live the glory of the season 2 finale—and the steamy kiss between Wagner and Morgan in the penultimate episode as you patiently wait for season 3 to return, hopefully in the early fall.
