Kerry Washington Talks Scandal & Being A Mother

Published

on

Kerry Washington spoke out about being a mother for the first time since giving birth to daughter Isabelle Amarachi Asomugha.

It’s not a secret that Washington is a super private star who tries not to speak about her husband, family and newborn daughter. Even Isabelle’s birth was announced two weeks after the fact!

The Scandal star did a sit-down interview with The Los Angeles Times, (similar to the one Bellamy Young recently did). Looking radiant, she took some Twitter questions from fans and one question kind of got her to spill the beans a bit. Key word, kind of.  “Now that you’re a mom will it be bittersweet to go back to work?” one fan asked.

“So tricky because you know I don’t talk about this stuff. I will say I feel really, really blessed. I just feel really blessed that I’m kind of living extraordinary dreams come true in my work life and in my personal life,” she said. Alright, so we got a semi-answer? That’s progress.

She also explained a little about why Olivia Pope is the way she is. Being from such a broken family– her parent’s are pretty insane– she is drawn to crisis and fixing things that are broken because she comes from such a broken place. This season we saw Olivia as more than just the fixer. We saw her interact with her parents and look for love in all these different places and in a way, when her parents came back into her life, she regressed to the older her.

Washington went onto explain that maybe the reason Olivia and Fitz can’t get it right is because while there are beautiful moments, they are also broken and she thinks its okay because she comes from a place of such tragedy.

Earlier this week it, co-star Bellamy Young admitted that she’s not allowed to talk about Kerry Washington’s personal life on the red carpet. Sheesh. Personal means personal, we get it Kerry!

The whole 37-minute interview really picks Kerry’s brain on everything Scandal and Olivia Pope so it’s worth the watch! Check it out here!

‘This Is Us’ Season 5 Trailer Teases New Beginnings, Kevin & Randall’s Fallout, Kevin’s Fiancee, and Face Masks

This Is Us Season 5 Premiere Trailer Teases Coronavirus

The 2-hour premiere of This Is Us is closer than ever!

Just a few days after NBC revealed the first trailer for the drama that reunites us with the Pearson family, they’ve given us a second, longer trailer that is more focused on the fallout between Randall Pearson (Sterling K. Brown) and Kevin Pearson (Justin Hartley) following their blow-out confrontation.

Will they find their way back? Will Kevin attempt to become a better brother? It may be a long road ahead, but it sure seems like it.

While there’s minimal new footage since the series just began shooting a few weeks ago due to COVID delays, it teases “a new chapter” for the family.

We see Randall celebrate his 40th birthday with wife Beth estranged from the rest of his siblings, who are celebrating together at the family cabin.

Kevin is seen walking to his car wearing a mask, which reveals that the series will be embracing the real-life coronavirus pandemic. It’s unclear how it’ll affect the family, but considering there’s a scene showing Kevin caressing Madison’s (Caitlin Thompson) growing baby bump, maybe the series will navigate pregnancy in a COVID-19 world. It’s likely easier to film certain scenes with more cast members if mask-wearing is permitted and deemed normal.

In a shocking twist, Kevin also calls her his “fiancee,” which prompts Kate Pearson (Chrissy Metz) to inform him that he needs to explain to use of the word fiancee.

Everything We Already Know About ‘YOU’ Season 3 on Netflix Including New Cast Members

Everything We Know About You Season 3

Hello, you.

Joe Goldberg, Will Bettelheim, or whatever we’re calling him these days, is only just getting started with you.

WARNING: stop reading if you don’t want spoilers for YOU Season 1 and Season 2!

The second season of the Lifetime-turned-Netflix series left on a pretty major cliffhanger: Joe is expecting a child with Love. Oh, and despite being confronted by someone equally as insane that made him realize his behavior and actions are completely unacceptable, he cannot help himself when he notices his new neighbor and his stalker-senses start tingling again.

Given all of that, it’s no surprise that the upcoming third season (which was renewed in early January) is highly-anticipated. It’s shaping up to be even more intense than the first two seasons combined.

The stakes are much higher now that a child is involved, Joe is being held accountable for his actions by Love, and much to his dismay, he’s stuck in a relationship with someone he’s not even in love with.

So, here’s what we know about the third season of YOU.

  • You’re going to binge-watch it – HA, okay, that was just a joke to see if you were paying attention. Of course, you’re going to binge-watch it.
  • It will premiere in 2021 – Netflix has confirmed that. In other words, you have about a year to recover from the insanity that was season 2.
  • Production has already kicked off – Showrunner Sera Gamble took to Twitter to share that “We’ve started work on season 3. Just thought you’d want to know.” And yes, we did want to know, so thank you, Sera.

  • It will be 10 episodes – Both seasons have consisted of 10 episodes so why fix something that isn’t broken, am I right?

  • You’ll see some familiar faces – Badgley will obviously reprise his character as stalker Joe, while Victoria Pedretti will return as his psycho baby momma Love Quinn.
  • Who are the new cast members? – Shalita Grant joins as Sherry, a “Mom-fluencer” who appears down to earth but is really a mean girl pretending to invite Love into her circle. Travis Van Winkle will play Cary, a wealthy guy who invites Joe into his circle. Sounds ominous. And if we know anything about Joe and Love, this isn’t going to end well for either Sherry or Travis.
  • Will Ellie be back? It’s not confirmed, but I’m crossing my fingers that we’ll also see Jenna Ortega return because we need a wellness check on that girl!

  • The dream team is returning – Not Joe and Love… never Joe and Love. We’re talking about Sera Gamble and Greg Berlanti who delivered some twisted television magic.
  • Can I crush on Joe? – Seriously, no. He’s a narcissistic murder no matter how great his jawline is. You all saw what happened to Delilah.
  • The neighbor will be explored – Not much is known about the plot of season 3, but I reckon the object of Joe’s attention in those final moments is going to play a vital role. Even the season 3 announcement teased “see you soon, neighbor.” There are plenty of theories about who the mystery woman could be (Badgley debunked that it’s his mother, but do we believe him?), but I really want it to be Candace again. She can be like “hey, I’m still not dead.” Or maybe it’s Beck’s sister? Whoever it is, I don’t think it’s going to be anyone random.

  • Is it based on a book? Maybe. The first two seasons were based on novels by Caroline Kepnes, although, the plot did stray from the book ever so slightly. Kepnes is currently writing her third book and close to being finished, but there’s no word if it will inspire the third season.
  • Will Joe finally get what’s coming to him? I mean, I hope so. Whatever happened to the pee cup? How can no one tie any of these murders to him? Why does he keep getting away?

As you wait for the new season, you can binge-watch season 1 and 2 on Netflix.

And don’t forget to check out the funniest memes inspired by our dear Joe and his murderous tendencies.

Nostalgia Alert: ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ Reboot Ordered at Amazon

I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot coming to Amazon

Amazon has officially ordered to series a reboot for I Know What You Did Last Summer.

Now, if the reboot was based off of 2020, the premise wouldn’t be all that thrilling because no one did anything this summer. Thanks, COVID.

But thankfully, the magic of television doesn’t have to abide by the real-world face mask and social distancing rules.

The reboot, like the 1997 slasher classic, will be loosely based on Lois Duncan’s 1972 of the same name.

In the young adult adaptation, it will focus on a group of teenagers who are stalker by a mysterious killer a year after a fatal accident on graduation night.

“The best horror franchises always have another scare coming, and this I Know What You Did Last Summer series from Sara Goodman is a perfectly twisted update to the iconic slasher movie,” said Albert Cheng, COO and co-head of television at Amazon Studios, per Deadline. “Any way you slice it, our global Prime Video customers will love this modern take on the fan favorite film.”

While we’re all for a modern retelling, we can’t help but yearn for some of the original cast members to reprise their roles.

After all, the thriller featured a star-studded cast of 90s heartthrobs including Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe and Freddie Prinze Jr.

We know Phillippe is busy working on the upcoming ABC mystery drama, Big Sky, but could we at least get 2 out of 4 to sign on for the reboot? Wishful thinking, we know.
